Weathered the storm...

We made it through the storm - thanks for everyone's prayers and good wishes. Our extended families in the Houston area are fine as well. We were fortunate enough to have power and water restored about 24 hours after they went out.

On Sunday, Jim rode his bike through our neighborhood and to where we're building. The damage to Houston is amazing - I've never seen anything like it in my 33 years of living in the area. It's nothing compared to the areas that were actually in the storm surge, but still surprising to see.

What's more amazing is that we had very little damage to our three properties in the Heights. Our house has some water damage where the standing seam roof had not been installed, but nothing major. I was fully prepared to find major damage since we have several mature trees right next to the house. We were very lucky, indeed.

Some pictures Jim took during his bike ride:

Okay so if I ever get rich and get to build a custom home which I would love to do, I am SOOOOO paying your behind to work from out there and choose everything and fly out here every once in a while to make sure everything is going right. I LOVE those cabinets, the faucets, the stairs, all of it! You have such a freaking talent, everything looks so great, I suck at this stuff as I've told you before. So be prepared in about 5-10 years if I can ever get my act together LOL. I love your ideas and expertise, it looks like a foreign language to me, but I still like reading it :) When is it going to be finished? I can't wait to see what it looks like!

Aww, thanks, Ang! I'm by no means an expert and can be rather tunnel visioned (I just like what I like, lol), but I'd be glad to help you any time!

The house was supposed to be done the first week in November, but since we have no power where we're building and the crews aren't out, we'll likely be delayed at least a couple of weeks - right when I'm due to give birth, of course! Ah, well, it could be worse!
